Trauma, Injury, Marginalisation & Equity
Lab

We conduct research that is trauma-informed, influenced by lived experience perspectives, and of value to communities that have been marginalised.

WHY TIME?

Welcome to TIME Lab! We believe that all people have the right to access health and mental health care that is inclusive, compassionate, and evidence-based.

We study ways in which psychological trauma and traumatic injury impact communities that have been marginalised and are committed to identifying factors that precipitate these experiences and that influence healing. We are research-driven and action-oriented. We contribute to making mental health care safer and more equitable, including by improving psychology and counselling training.

We value lived experience perspectives and approach our work with curiosity, respect, humility, and a social justice lens.

Using Photovoice to Explore Determinants of Health among Homeless and Unstably Housed Women

We used Photovoice, a community-based participatory action research method, to explore the health-related concerns, needs, and behavior of women who are homeless or unstably housed. Participants demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity, and hope as they strived toward health improvement.
