Trauma, Injury, Marginalisation & Equity
Lab
We conduct research that is trauma-informed, influenced by lived experience perspectives, and of value to communities that have been marginalised.

WHY TIME?
Welcome to TIME Lab! We believe that all people have the right to access health and mental health care that is inclusive, compassionate, and evidence-based.
We study ways in which psychological trauma and traumatic injury impact communities that have been marginalised and are committed to identifying factors that precipitate these experiences and that influence healing. We are research-driven and action-oriented. We contribute to making mental health care safer and more equitable, including by improving psychology and counselling training.

We value lived experience perspectives and approach our work with curiosity, respect, humility, and a social justice lens.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!
Dissociation training and symptom identification accuracy among Australian psychologists
Most psychologists in this study (N = 280) had not received training on dissociation, did not regularly assess for dissociation, and were unable to accurately identify all dissociation symptoms. This suggests dissociation is commonly overlooked in training and clinical practice. If clinicians are unable to recognise dissociation, clients' symptoms are likely being undertreated. Training on dissociation should be part of psychology curricula, and cost-effective clinician professional development is needed.
